In order for content creators and publishers to be successful, they need an organized and meaningful way to understand how their content is performing across Facebook.
Discovery and definition
Creator studio has quickly become the go-to tool to manage, measure, and monetize content across both Facebook and Instagram. Needing help to improve the analytics that are available within Creator Studio to create actionable workflows, emphasize education, and help users achieve data-driven results, Facebook reached out out to me.
Because Facebook handles multiple types of rich content besides just video, they needed a system that could scale to include those different content types in the future. Additionally, because of the cross-posting abilities of Facebook, there needed to be a clear delineation between "post" and "asset" level content management and their corresponding analytics.
Understanding analytics data is no easy task, so I worked closely with the team to quickly gain an understanding of the various insights we had access to, and how to understand them. Updating Creator Studio's Asset Dialogue to a fully rich experience was the first logical step. I was able to work closely with Facebook's data analysts, developers, and researcher to ramp up quickly and build a working prototype. Working with the team's researchers, we were able to test our prototype with users to further explore how the updates experience would be utilized.
We were able to use these research sessions to iterate on design hierarchy and on-boarding to solve the unique problems that Facebook was running into. Giving insights mroe space and an updates design helped add clarity to their meaning. We worked with Facebook to clean up language, hierarchy, and workflows. It was important to use to make sure that insights were not only easy to understand but actionable. If there was something a creator could be doing to improve their performance, we wanted to make sure they could take that step. Color and system architecture helped users better understand the content level that they were viewing.
The updated Creator Studio's Asset Dialogue provided a more comprehensive and actionable analytics experience for Facebook and Instagram users. The new system was able to handle different types of rich content, and the clear separation between "post" and "asset" level. management helped users better understand and use the data.
The project team worked closely with design partners to gain a deep understanding of the various insights available in Creator Studio and how to make the most of them. By building a working prototype and testing it with users, the team was able to refine the design and on-boarding process to improve clarity and actionability.
The updates design and language helped users better understand the insights and take action to improve their content performance. The user of color and system architecture helped users easily identify the content level they were viewing, which made it easier for them to understand the data and make data-driven decisions.
Overall, the updates Creator Studio's Asset Dialogue was well-received by users and provided a more intuitive and effective analytics experience. The improved analytics helped users achieve better results from their content, and the project has been continuously iterated and improved upon since it'a launch with a significant impact on user engagement and performance.
